Fabulous restaurant

House on the Props is a fabulous restaurant in the heart of Polperro. The food is fantastic, the service is great and the atmosphere is cosy. I have visited for both evening meals and also for breakfast and have been delighted with both.

It's the real deal

Well, you could probably get bigger and posher rooms somewhere else. But if you want an awesome view of the little harbor and genuinely caring hosts in a beautiful historic house with a nice full English breakfast, this is the place for you. We planned to stay one night, but stayed two, just to enjoy the atmosphere of Polperro and this charming B&B!

Great B&B - Ideal for the South West coastal path

2nd time I've stayed here. When in the area can't really find a reason not too. Nice en suite room and a good breakfast. Establishment is also available for lunch and evening meals. Again I've found no reason to go elsewhere for an evening meal. Menu is good and I find the meals I have chosen to be very good and value for money. For walkers who wanted to plan to get from A to B and walk back there are boats to either Fowey or in the other direction Looe. Great way of breaking the day up. Go to either and walk back to Polperro.

We always enjoy our stays at the House on The Props

We've lost count how many times we have stayed at the House on Props as we have been down every year in the summer. Mandy and Steve are great hardworking hosts who add to the charm of this wonderful Cornish tourist highlight in Polperro (visitors from all over the world stand on the Roman bridge and take photos of the House on Props and the harbour). We had dinner the night we arrived - lemon sole in a gorgeous leek sauce and also a crab special of the day both cooked by Steve and served by Mandy. Breakfasts are always good - cooked to order in the mornings but we often have the smoked salmon and scrambled egg option which again is wonderful. Hopefully, they can fit us in again next year.

Overnight stay

An excellent stay with a pot of tea and pastries to revive us after a long day's walking. Steve and Mandy were excellent hosts and would certainly recommend this place which was very cosy and quirky. An excellent breakfast with fresh bread made on the premises.

Wonderful mini break with family

We were made very welcome by Steve and Mandy who clearly wanted to make our stay both comfortable and relaxed. The views were outstanding and we had an excellent choice of local produce and homemade breads. Highly recommended for a typical Cornish village stay.

Wonderful weekend

Excellent weekend break with friends....we had booked two rooms..both with stunning harbour views. Everything we needed was provided and our lovely hosts made our stay so enjoyable. We have stayed in Polperro many times but this was our first B&B stay. This is Cornish hospitality at it's best...food to die for, relaxed atmosphere and an unbeatable position on the harbour side. Rooms spotless and well equipped....be prepared for the sloping floors...this is an historic building and it all adds to the charm of this treasure. Definitely eat here...be it coffee and cake or the full fish experience it will be worth it!

Cosy & charming

I was in Polperro for a friend’s wedding & was lucky enough to find this place to stay for a couple of nights. Mandy & Steve were wonderfully welcoming & accommodating. My room was very comfortable & had a beautiful view over the harbour. I really appreciated the little touches, such as delicious home-made biscuits in the room, & the location was very convenient. The breakfast was fantastic, as was the crab sandwich & scone I had for lunch. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend & hope to return one day.

Best fish curry

What a find! Charming cosy restaurant with lovely friendly service. The best fish I've ever had. Had the special ofvtge day fish curry. Beautiful selection of desserts all homemade. Will be visiting next year to sample the food again.
