Fishing Trips

For those who would like to do a spot of fishing we have two hour mackerel trips POA with Skipper Oliver Puckey, all fishing gear provided, where we take you to the wrecks and reefs just off the coast. With the experienced skipper Ollie you will spend a very enjoyable couple of hours and hopefully bring back a few fish for dinner.

For more information Contact (Ollie Puckey) on 07966 528045, email at olliepuckey@outlook.com or see the boat agent on the harbour quay by the beach.

Scenic Boat trips

The Polperro Boat Men operate various boat trips out of Polperro on a daily basis from Easter until November weather permitting.

Half hour coastal trips leave the harbour every few minutes. Waiting time, even during the summer months, is usually no more than 15 minutes. Parties can phone to pre-book a boat which will be ready and waiting at the time you require.

The trips take in the beauty of the Cornish coastline, seeing birds and wildlife in their natural habitat, and although not guaranteed there is the occasional sighting of dolphins, sunfish and basking sharks and other types of sea life.

We also offer trips to neighbouring Looe. This trip does depend on tides. So times vary each day. For a slightly longer trip we can take you to the picturesque Fowey estuary stopping at Pulruan and Fowey.

Coast Path Walks

Come to the beach anywhere in the South West of England, turn left or right and you’ll be on the South West Coast Path and on the edge of an amazing experience.

Walk – Talland Bay from Polperro

3.7 miles

Moderate – On footpaths and quiet country lanes, which may be muddy. There are stretches of both ascent and descent, occasionally steep.

A short walk along the Coast Path to the smugglers’ bay at Talland, where the nineteenth-century vicar danced around the graveyard at night ‘exorcising ghosts’ to keep people away so that the smugglers could hide their haul in the church! The walk starts in the picturesque fishing village of Polperro, with its narrow streets of tiny cottages and ancient steps carved in the rocks above the cave on the beach. Allow time to pause in the Heritage Museum en route for its tales of the smugglers and fishermen in Polperro’s colourful past.

Polperro Heritage Museum

Located in The Warren overlooking the harbour, the Polperro Heritage Museum of Smuggling and Fishing houses a remarkable collection of exhibits and 19th century photographs as well as many items of memorabilia dating from the 18th century when both smuggling and fishing thrived in Polperro. It vividly brings to life the story of this Cornish fishing village’s extraordinary history and many of the people who featured in it. Displays also include more recent events such as storm damage, and a rare archive film of pilchard fishing in the 1930s.
